Flora Brubaker, 81, Died Last Night In Prairie City

PRAIRIE CITY - Rebecca Flora Brubaker, 81, passed away at the home of her son, Earl Brubaker, here last night shortly after 7 o'clock, following a several day illness. Cause of her death was termed as coronary thrombosis.

Born on Feb. 12, 1866 in Flora, Ind., a city that was named for her father, she was married to I. W. Brubaker on Nov. 28, 1895.

The Brubaker family moved to Iowa in 1900. Her husband passed away in 1937, two years after the couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1935.

Survivors include five children, Mrs. Lova Deardorff, Brooklyn, Ia.; Mrs. Flossy Buckingham, Robbins, Ia.; Jay Brubaker, West Des Moines; Mrs. Reba Brewer, Prairie City and D. L. Brubaker, Des Moines. Also surviving are 25 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon from the Church of the Brethern in Prairie City, with Rev. Charles Lunkley in charge of the service.

Pallbearers all of whom are grandsons of the deceased will be Orville Buckingham, Harold Deardorff, Donald Brewer, Darrell Brubaker, Doyle Brubaker and Kenneth Cabbage.

Burial will be in the Griffith Cemetery near Prairie City. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, March 1947
