Services for B. L. McGregor Held Tuesday

Body Found Sat. in Barn; Think He Died Thurs. While Milking

Funeral services for B. L. McGregor, 76, were held Tuesday p.m. from the Reasnor church, with Rev. R. E. Hodgson, pastor of the Reasnor M. E. Church, officiating. Music was furnished by a mixed quartet, including Mrs. Louis Broderson, Mrs. Bernard Van Wyn Garden, John Van Wyn Garden and George Tool, accompanied by Mrs. Earl Guthrie, pianist. Sections used were “Lead Kindly Light“, “Old Rugged Cross” and “Asleep in Jesus.”

Pall bearers, neighbors, and friends of the deceased, were Jas. Laird, Ed Coker, Fred Rohrdanz and Morgan Woody of Reasnor; Case Vonk and Mathis Vander Vel__en of Monroe. Burial was in the mount Zion Cemetery, with services conducted by the I.O.O.F., of which the deceased was a member.

Mr. McGregors body was found in a cow shed on his farm west of Reasnor Saturday evening about (unreadable) o’clock. Dr. E. A. McMurray of Newton, County Coroner, said he believed that Mr. McGregor died of a heart attack while milking Thursday evening.

According to neighbors, McGregor, who lived alone, was last seen Wednesday evening. It is thought that he was alive Thursday, as the mail had been taken into the house.

Surviving relatives include two sons, Leslie and Lynn, a daughter, Mrs. J. Lamb and his widow, all of Reasnor.

Monroe Odd Fellows who took part in the services were E. A. Bump, M. C. Cramer, Clyde Fouch, Boyd Hipsley, Blaine Caulkins and John Anderson. Sam McDaniel, Eugene bean and E. C. Coker of Reasnor also participated. ~ Newspaper unknown.

Find Body Saturday; Believe He Died Thursday Evening

REASNOR – Dr. E. A. McMurray of Newton, jasper County coroner, decided Sunday, after examination, that no inquest will be held into the death of Barzillia Lafayette McGregor, 76.

McGregor’s body was found in a cow shed on his farm near Reasnor Saturday at 6:15 p.m. Dr. McMurray said he believes McGregor died of a heart attack while milking Thursday evening. He lived alone.

McGregor was last seen alive Wednesday evening, when Tunis Vonk, Richard Vonk and Case Vonk brought him home from a neighbor’s home in a bob sled.

It is thought that he was alive Thursday, however, since Thursday’s mail had been brought into the house.

Two sons, Leslie McGregor and Lynn McGregor, a daughter, Mrs. Jay Lamb, and Mrs. McGregor survive.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10 A. M. from the Methodist Episcopal Church in Reasnor. Interment will be in Mount Zion Cemetery.

OBITUARY
Barzillia McGregor

Reasnor – Barzillia Lafayette McGregor, son of David Allin and Samatha Jane McGregor, was born in Hancock County, Ill, Nov. 22, 1858 and died at his home West of Reasnor, Dec. 6, 1934, at the age of 76 years.

He came to Iowa with his parents when he was 11 years old and had resided in this community since. He was united in marriage to Nettie Efnor, Nov. 6, 1883. To this union were born three children, Mrs. Lela Lamb, Leslie and Lynn McGregor, all of Reasnor.

Mr. McGregor was a member of the Evangelical church and when the church merged with the Methodist church of this community, he (the rest of this obit is missing)
