Joe A. Heldenbrand, 64, died of a respiratory ailment Friday, September 29 at Mercy Medical Center. Services were held Monday, September 2 at Hamilton’s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home. Cremation followed services. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date.
Mr. Heldenbrand was born in Valley Junction and had lived in Earlham 25 years before returning to the Des Moines area. He was a retired truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma; two sons, Jeff of Camdenton, Missouri, and Lew of Prole; two daughters, Bea Baker of Colfax and Carla Breon of Hedrick; a brother, Louis of Mitchellville; two sisters, Esther McGahuey of Altoona, and Connie Koval of Des Moines; a stepbrother; three stepsisters; and six grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice in Johnson.
