Geraldine (Gerry) Holland passed away on June 1, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
Gerry was born March 31, 1918 to Alfred and Sarah Husson in Colfax, Iowa. She graduated from Colfax High School and lived there until moving to Des Moines where she worked for Iowa Power and Light and Equitable Life Insurance Co. Gerry was united in marriage to Orson Holland Jr. on June 3, 1945.
Gerry was a member of the Colfax Baptist Church. Her interests included watching TV, solving crossword puzzles and spending time with her family and friends. Gerry loved music and had fun playing the organ and piano for the enjoyment of others. She was gracious and caring and devoted much of her life to serving the needs of others.
Gerry is survived by her daughter Diane (David) Richardson of Westminster, Colorado; her son Dan (Jackie) Holland of Urbandale; two grandchildren, Cory (Melissa) Holland and Laura (Corey) Miller; two great-grandchildren Riley and Brad Holland and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers, Henry, Howard and Alfred Husson and two sisters Retha Frey and Elizabeth Cooper.
Private family services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Colfax with burial following at Colfax Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Church in Colfax or Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
