Beverly R. (Miller) Miller, 74, of Newton, died Saturday, May 22, 2010, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at St. Luke United Methodist Church, 501 E. 19th St. N. in Newton with pastor Audrey Young officiating.
The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 25 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 28 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Hampton, Iowa.
Beverly was born Aug. 18, 1935, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Adolph and Evangeline (Borcheding) Miller. She was a graduate of Davenport Central High School and of the Iowa Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Beverly married Armond N. Miller on July 7, 1956 in Davenport, and has lived in Newton since 1964.
Beverly taught in the Davenport, Sheffield-Chapin and Newton school districts. She was an active member of the St. Luke United Methodist Church, and taught Sunday school and Bible school. Beverly enjoyed being with her family especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, camping, sending cards and meeting people.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Shelly Chandler of Johnston, Marcia (Jerry) Weiler of Remsen and Becky (Craig) Stuvick of Nolensville, Tenn.; six grandchildren Tom Chandler, Anna Chandler, Nicholas Weiler, Christopher Weiler, Gregory Weiler and Kathy Stuvick; a sister, Shirley Mirfield of Long Grove; two brothers Vernon (Donna) Miller of Bettendorf and Dan (Sherry) Miller of Indianapolis, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the St. Luke United Methodist Church or to the Susan G. Koman Foundation; memorials may be left at the funeral home or at the church on the morning of the service.
