Dale T. Edwards, age 76 of Colfax died Thursday, May 20, 2010, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday May 25, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax, with burial following at the Colfax Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Monday, May 24, 2010, from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Dale T. Edwards Memorial Fund and online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.
The son of David Thomas and Doris Lanora (McCracken) Edwards, Dale was born on June 6, 1933, in Colfax, Iowa. Dale graduated from Colfax High School in 1951. Following high school, Dale served in the United States Army as a paratrooper. On November 24, 1974, he was united in marriage to Margaret H. Owens in Kansas City, Missouri. Dale worked for the Monroe Company and Wright Tree Service. Following that, he worked for 30 years at Maytag in Newton.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife of 35 years, Margaret of Marshalltown, two sons, Wes Edwards of Williamsburg, Iowa and David Edwards of Newton, Iowa; five grandchildren, Cheyenne, Morgan, Kayleigh, Mason and Riley; a sister Docela (Kanu) Chatterjee of Coralville and three brothers, Dave (Margo) Edwards of Mitchellville, Dewey (Pat) Edwards of Colfax and Don (Darla) Edwards of Colfax. Preceding Dale in death were his parents, and two sisters, one in infancy and Dreda Edwards McGill.
