Benjamin Scott Croson, 23, was a member of Charlie Company 1-133 Infantry of the Army National Guard. He served in Iraq in 2006 and 2007, where he received a Purple Heart. He attended high school in Story City before joining the National Guard. He died at his residence in New Hartford on May 17, 2010.
Ben was preceded in death by two great-grandmothers. He is leaving behind his mother, Darcy Croson, and her special friend, Doug Greiner of Ames; his grandparents, Brian and Janice Croson of Newton; an uncle, Scott Croson, and his wife, Cristy, of Newton; an aunt, Pam Warwick, and her husband, Tom, of Coulter; an aunt, Rhonda Hamblin, and her husband, Les, of Wendell, N.C; as well as 13 cousins and two second cousins.
Services will be at Cornerstone Bible Fellowship church in Newton at 10 a.m. Ben will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
The Wallace Family Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
