Monroe, IA – Clarence Zickel, 89, of Monroe, died of pneumonia Sunday at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Des Moines, Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Monroe, with burial at Palo Alto Cemetery at Newton.

Mr. Zickel was born in Jasper County and farmed all his life in the Sully and Reasnor areas.
Survivors include a brother, Lloyd of Monroe, and two sisters, Eulalia Kloostra of Cedar Falls and Lila Sallade of Des Moines.

[Clarence E. Zickel was born April 26, 1896, served in WWI in France, married Alta Pearl Bean Aug. 18, 1919. Clarence and Alta had one son, Byron F. Zickel who was born and died in 1920. Alta died Apr. 18, 1981 and is also buried in the Palo Alto Cemetery.]
