A. Marie Brayton, 91, of Newton, died of complications following a stroke, Thursday, Nov. 20, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Foursquare Church with the Rev. James Black, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held after 1 p.m. at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home where the family will be present from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
Memorials in Mrs. Brayton’s name will be accepted at the funeral home.
The daughter of Rollie and Lena F. Anderson White, she was born April 28, 1906, near Prairie City.
She married Wilbur A. Brayton May 22, 1926, in Prairie City.
A longtime resident of Jasper County, she worked as a homemaker. She was a member of the Foursquare Church.
Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert and Harold and Martha, all of Newton and Don of Des Moines; a daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Gary Skiles of Newton; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two step grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; a brother and two sisters-in-law, William R. and Erlene White of Rock Creek and Ruby Irene Miller of Newton; a sister, Kathryn Van Maanen of Prairie City; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two grandchildren; and two sisters.
