Jean Phyllis McCarville Webb, 80, of Monroe died Friday, May 14, 2010, at her home in Monroe.
A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton with burial following at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 17, at Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe with the family present to greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

The daughter of Glen and Bell (Miller) Sawyer, Jean was born on October 23, 1929. She was born and raised in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Jean had a passion for taking care of children and worked in domestic shelters in order to help children. She also loved the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jean enjoyed writing, knitting, crossword puzzles, coffee time with friends, and rooting for the Denver Broncos. Jean was very generous and was always volunteering her time to help others.
Those left to honor her memory are son; Joe McCarville of Monroe, three grandchildren; Holly (Matt) Clifton of Norwalk, Jessica (Gerald) Malone of Monroe, and Tom McCarville of Monroe, and seven great-grandchildren; Dominic McCarville, Marisel Clifton, Morgan Malone, Rosie Malone, Trent Malone, Kenadie Malone, and Cooper Malone. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Thomas McCarville Jr., longtime companion, Ed Klotz, and five sisters; Frances, Gladys, Vera, Ruth, and Beverly.
Memorials may be given to the Jean McCarville Webb Memorial Fund.
