Beverly J. Kirkendall, 84, of Newton died May 14, 2010, at the Nelson Manor Nursing Home.
No funeral services are planned. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
She was born Sept. 10, 1925, in Guthrie Center to Fred and Ina (Moorhead) Mitchell. She retired from Maytag in June 1987. Beverly enjoyed gardening, fishing and planting flowers.
Beverly is survived by a son, Gary (Vicky) Kirkendall of Monroe; daughters, Kathy (Steve) Schwab of Colfax and Diane (Dave) Austin of Knoxville, Iowa; a sister, Ruth Mains; and a sister-in-law, Doris Mitchell. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Michael; sisters, Bernita, Thelma and Gertrude; and brothers, Burdette (Skip) and Irven (Murph).
Any memorial contributions can be made to Nelson Manor Nursing Home. Cremation Society of Eastern-Central-Western Iowa is assisting with arrangements.
