Daniel F. “Danny” Fane, 62, of Newton, Iowa, died Monday, March 8, 2010, at his home in Newton.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church, 210 N. Second Ave. E. in Newton, with Pastor Doug Cupples of The Way Church in Newton officiating. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2010, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery. Memorials in Danny’s name may be left at the funeral home or at the church the morning of the service.
The son of Carroll and Lucille (Gearhart) Fane, Danny was born May 4, 1947, in Newton. He graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1966, and he served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. On Feb. 21, 1970, he was united in marriage to Sharon K. Edwards in Carroll, Iowa.
Danny was currently working as a HVAC Tech for Woodward Resources. He had worked for Brookwood Inc. and Brooker Plumbing & Heating, both of Newton, for 35 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 111, VFW Post 1655, GWRRA and Jasper County 2 Wheelers. Danny was a lifelong resident of Newton.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon of Newton; a son, Doug Fane of Newton; a daughter, Jodi Fane Versteegh of Newton; a son-in-law, Jordy Versteegh of Newton; two grandchildren Hunter and Halli Versteegh of Newton; his mother, Lucille Fane of Newton; and three sisters, Barb Brady of Clive, Iowa, Linda (Denny) Wells of Newton and Patty Graham of Pinetop, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carroll Fane; maternal and paternal grandparents; and his brother-in-law, James Brady.
