Bernard Lee “Bernie” Stech, 89, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away March 9, 2010, at the Franklin General Hospital in Hampton.
A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Hampton United Methodist Church with burial in the Hampton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton.

He was born January 1, 1921, in Milllerton, Iowa, to Earl and Effie Viola (Weber) Stech. Bernie graduated from the Millerton High School in Millerton, Iowa.
He served his country during World War II in the United States Navy. Bernie married M. Mozelle “Mo” Moore in Newton, Iowa, on May 11, 1947. He worked as an electrician and a salesman at Moorman Feed. After retirement he enjoyed farming with his son-in-law Bob and working at his son-in-law Jim’s Auto Body Shop. He was a member of the VFW, Hampton Lions Club, American Legion and the Hampton United Methodist Church. Bernie enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s activities, spending time with his grandchildren & great grandchildren.
Bernie spent many summers selling sweet corn, giving the proceeds to the grandchildren, his garden was his pride and joy and he produced wonderful tomatoes. Bernie is survived by his wife M. Mozelle “Mo” Stech of Hampton, daughter Sharon & husband Jim Koenen of Hampton, daughter Kathy & husband Bob Heilskov of Hampton, son Bill & wife Sue Stech of Altoona, son Terry & wife Jimmie Stech of Lexington, Kentucky, brother Gail & wife Betty Stech of Perry, grandchildren; Creed Heilskov, Roxie Koenen, Jason Heilskov, Amber Peterson, Brent Stech, Wendy Stech, Kristen Davis, Jon Stech and Sam Stech, great grandchildren; Madison, Tayler, Kennedy, Brooklyn, Marin, James B., Josh, Ava, James T., Cash, Anastasia and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, step mother and a step brother and step sister.
