Margaret “Peggy” Dearinger, 87, formerly of Monroe, died Monday, March 1, 2010, at Country View in North Liberty.
Graveside services for Mrs. Dearinger will be on Friday, March 5, 2010, at Silent City Cemetery of Monroe at 3 p.m. Visitation will be prior to graveside services from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home of Monroe. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Jasper County Humane Society or Hospice of Iowa City. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.
Margaret “Peggy” Dearinger, the daughter of James and Margaret (Mateer) Radcliffe, was born Nov. 23, 1922, in Belfast, North Ireland. She was educated in the public school system in Belfast. On Jan. 19, 1944, she was married to Sgt. Clifford O. Dearinger, who was serving in the United States Army at Belfast, North Ireland. She came to this country in April of 1946 and lived in Galesburg, Iowa, until moving to Monroe in 1950. She had been a telephone operator in Monroe for several years and retired from the Pella Manufacturing Company in Pella in 1984. Margaret had been a member of the Monroe Presbyterian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters and her husband. She is survived by her daughter, Loraine Kent of North Liberty; her son, Brian Dearinger of Yukon, Okla.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister in Belfast, North Ireland.
