Death of Mrs. Mary Sheeler

Born and Lived all her Life in the Vicinity of Monroe

Mrs. Mary Sheeler, wife of Howard Sheeler, died at her home in Monroe last Thursday, after a long Illness, final cause of death being dropsy of the heart. Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Sheeler of this city, accompanied by their daughter Miss Jeanette, attended the funeral which was held at Tool’s M. E. Chapel on Friday afternoon. D. A. and Howard Sheeler are brothers. The funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. C. E. Fitzsimmons, who read the following brief life-story of Mrs. Sheeler. The remains were laid to rest in the east cemetery near Monroe.

Mary Marguerite Bigley, daughter of William and Rhoda Bigley, was born near Monroe, Iowa, March 1, 1877, and died April 22, 1915 at the age of 38 years, 1 month and 21 days. She became a member of Tool’s Chapel M. E. Church when she was sixteen years old and has been a faithful Christian ever since. She was united in marriage to Howard Sheeler, March _______. (Sentence blacked out) To this union were born three children, Gladys, Gail and Howard William.

About a year ago her health began to fail rapidly. She kept about her usual household duties until two weeks ago when she was taken to her bed. She bore her sufferings without a murmur. No one ever heard her complain of her trouble. She met the end bravely and was ready to meet her Maker. She had an abiding trust in her Saviour and a bright hope of the resurrection.

She leaves to mourn her loss her husband three children, her father, Wm. Bigley, three sisters, Mrs. Martha Crane near Monroe, Mrs. Emma Wilson near Reasnor, and Mrs. Alice Bell of Ocheydon, Iowa, besides a host of other relatives and friends. ~ Newspaper unknown.
