Mrs. Fanny Lockwood Hough

Died in Mississippi, Body Brot to Old Home for Interment

Mrs. Fannie Lockwood Hough, widow of the late Thos. W. Hough, died at her home in Biloxi, Mississippi, on Saturday, April 14th. Although in feeble health for several years, the final summons came very suddenly.

The body, accompanied by her son-in-law, Mr. H. B. Rush, arrived in Newton on Tuesday morning, and in the afternoon was taken to Mt. Zion M. E. Church southeast of Newton, where funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. J. Fowler, and the Body laid to rest by the side of hr husband and many kindred and friends, in the cemetery nearby.

Mrs. Hough was a daughter of the sainted Samuel Lockwood and wife, pioneers of this county. She was born in Ohio, October 9, 1848, but came with her parents to Newton when a small child, and grew to womanhood on the old Lockwood farm near the County Home. She and her parents were members of The Mt. Zion church class from its beginning.

She was married to Thos. W. Hough October 18, 1847. They had one daughter, Mrs. Nelle Rush of Biloxi, but there are seven step-children all living, by whom she was loved as an own mother; of these are Elmer Hough of this city and Bert Hough of Monroe. Her husband died at Moulton, Iowa, in October, 1912, since which time she has made her home with her stepdaughter, Miss Rose Hough in Biloxi, Mrs. Rush living nearby. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Nannie Armentrout of Kansas City. Mrs. Hough and the two daughters have been active members of the Methodist church of Biloxi ever since they moved to the South. Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Wilkinson of Des Moines-the latter a step-daughter-and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Hough of Monroe were here for the funeral. ~ Newspaper unknown.
