Services for Effie Kamerick DeWit were held June 7, 1999, at the Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella. Rev. Stephen Veldhuis officiated the services. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.

Effie Kamerick, the fourth of nine children born to Martenis and Everdena (Schut) Kamerick was born near Pella on December 4, 1917. She passed away on Friday, June 4, 1999, at the Pella Regional Health Center Long Term Care Unit.

On June 14, 1940, Effie was united in marriage with George D. DeWit at the bride's parents' home. To this union three sons were born: Donald Lee, George Henry, and Robert Paul. George and Effie had an upholstery business for most of their lives. She had also worked for Heritage Imports. She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Pella. For the past two and a half years, Effie has resided at the Long Term Care Unit.

Effie is survived by their three sons: Donald DeWit and his wife, Barb of Tracy; George DeWit of Leighton; and Robert DeWit and his wife, Linda of Oskaloosa; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; two brothers: Walter Kamerick of Albia and Tenis M. G. Kamerick of Chillicothe, Iowa; and three sisters, Bertha Mathes of Chariton; Muriel Goemaat of Knoxville; and Jennie Bogaards of Pella.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George D. DeWit; one brother, John J. Kamerick; and two sisters: Henrietta DeBruin and Marie Langstraat.
