Obituary – James L. Wilson

James Lockridge Wilson was born in Logan County, Illinois, April 8th, 1841 and died at his home near Reasnor November 11, 1914, aged 73 years, 7 months and 3 days. He was united in marriage to Esther Farmer in 1863 and to this union were born seven children.

Mrs. Wilson departed this life in 1891 and since then Mr. Wilson has lived on the home place with his son, E. L. Wilson.

Five children survive him: Mrs. W. H. Mastellar, of Selby, S. D.; G. A. Wilson of near Pella; Mrs. A. C. Flaugh, A. V. Wilson and El. L. Wilson living near Reasnor. Mrs. H. D. McKinney and Harley B. preceded him to the better land. Sixteen grandchildren also mourn the loss of a loving grandfather. For several years he was father to Jim and Will Shelton as they made their home with him.

He came with his parents to Iowa in pioneer days, having lived in Mahaska county a short time and the rest of his life in Jasper County.

Although he never united with any church he was a firm believer in Christ as his Saviour. He was a kind father, a good neighbor and highly respected by all who knew him.

A large assembly of friends and relatives attended the funeral services held at the Reasnor M. E. Church Friday morning at 11 o’clock. The service was conducted by Rev. c. E. Fitzsimmons and interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery beside his wife. ~ Newspaper unknown.
