Wilber Donald Robson, 86, of Colfax died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at the Hospice of Jasper County Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Funeral services for Mr. Robson will be on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax at 10:30 a.m. with burial following at Colfax Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, at the funeral home from 2 to 8 p.m. with family present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Jasper County or the Colfax Emergency Unit, and online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.
The son of Frank and Mintawin (Waller) Robson, Wilber was born on Feb. 4, 1923, in Hartford, Iowa. Wilber proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II. On Oct. 2, 1943, Wilber was united in marriage with Coleen Ruggless in Missouri. The couple made their home in Colfax and raised four children together. Wilbur worked for 35 years for Iowa Power & Light Company before retiring in 1985. Wilber enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling, but his passion was for his family and horses. Wilber was a member of the American Legion, IBEW (Iowa Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) and the Colfax Saddle Club.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife of over 66 years, Coleen Robson of Colfax; his children, William (RuthAnn) Robson of Linden, Iowa, Jan Keenan (Ray Smothers) of Colfax, Joe (Joy) Robson of Colfax and Caren (Dr. Phil) Devoe-Clevenger of Newton; his grandchildren, Keith (Lori) Robson of Linden, Iowa, Wesley (Cathie) Robson of Scoby, Mont., Megan (Jeff) Tindle of Montezuma, Justis Robson of Colfax, Cassie (Travis) Cook of Colfax and Justin Devoe of Colfax; his great-grandchildren, Walker Robson, Cortni Robson, Gavin Tindle, Sawyer Tindle, Peyton Tindle and Emma Cook; eight step-grandchildren and 21 step-great-grandchildren.
Wilber was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters and one step-grandson.
