Death Of Alfred Nolin

Alfred Nolin died very suddenly of heart failure a little afternoon last Friday, September 22d, at the Albert Harrah farm northeast of Newton, where he had been Iiving for the past year.

He was taken violently ill only a short time before his death and his sudden death was a terrible shock to his family and friends. He had been in poor health, however, for a long while, and unable to do any work for the past two months; and yet he nor his family dreamed that the end was so near.

Alfred Nolin was a native of Jasper county, born on a farm six miles north-east of Monroe, November 16, 1865-his age at death being nearly 46 years. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. George Nolin; the father died several years ago, but the mother; Mrs. Mary Nolin, survives, and resides with her daughter, Mrs. Bert Hough of this city.

On the 14th of June, 1888, Mr. Nolin was united in marriage to Miss Helen Bruce, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Bruce of this city. Four children were born to them-Mrs. Grover Varbal, Arthur, Elva and Thyra Nolin, all of whom were with him during his final illness. Besides his bereaved mother wife and children, he is survived by six brothers and three sisters, and also one little granddaughter. With the exception of about four years in Oklahoma, Mr. Nolin had always lived in Jasper County. He was a good man and for many years has been a member of the Methodist Church. Funeral services were held at the home of Mrs. Albert Harrah on Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. R. F. Lavender of the Wittemberg Congregational Church a large number or friends and neighbors being present. The interment was in the Newton Cemetery. ~ Newspaper unknown
