Roma Lee Blackwood, 81, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Newton died on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, in Mesa.
The daughter of Lloyd and Catherine Scoville, Roma Lee was born March 5, 1928, in Newton.
She graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1946. On July 7, 1973, she married Dick Blackwood at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She then had various jobs in Jasper County including working at the Maytag Co. and operating her own clothing store. She was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Newton.
Roma Lee was a master sewer, played the organ, enjoyed reading, swimming and spending time with family and friends. She also loved animals.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Eads of Mesa and Dixie DeReus of Kellogg; two granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Richard; and one niece.
