Virginia May Kaster Broshar, 97, of Newton died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, at Nelson Manor in Newton, Iowa.
Family will receive friends on Saturday between 10 and 11 a.m. at the Sinnott Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Albia, with graveside services following at 11:30 a.m. at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia, Iowa. Online condolences may be left at www.sinnottpierschbacher.com.
The daughter of James Nathanial Kaster and Iva Zenoba Foster, Virginia was born May 8, 1912, in Chariton Township near Moravia. She was united in marriage to Charles Edward Broshar on Sept. 17, 1931, in Troy, Doniphan County, Kan. To this union they were blessed with Lois Carole (Campbell) and Ronnie Charles Broshar. She devoted her life to her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards and spending time with her family.
Those left to honor Virginia’s memory include her daughter, Lois Carole Campbell, and her son, Ronnie Broshar, both of Newton; two granddaughters, Melinda Campbell Worthington and Sherri Campbell Sciarrotta (Pete) of Newton; four great-grandchildren, Grant Worthington, Adena Worthington, Annamaria Sciarrotta Layton (Taylor) and Michael Sciarrotta, and one great-great-grandchild, Rueben Charles Layton, all of Newton. Also surviving are a brother, Veril Delano Kaster (Helen) of Clinton, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; parents; sisters, Vida Clark and Vera Sufficool; and her brothers, Virgil Kaster, Versil Kaster and Vernon Kaster.
