Stricken By Paralysis

Mrs. L. D. Jones Dies in Reasnor after Brief Illness.

Mrs. Kate Jones, wife of Lloyd D. Jones, died at her home in Reasnor, on Monday morning, February 28th, following a stroke of paralysis by which she was suddenly stricken on Monday, just one week before, while about her household duties. The stroke had affected her entire right side. Although she was unable to talk she was able to recognize her loved ones until Friday, when she lapsed into unconsciousness from which she did not again rally. Her husband, children and other kindred were at her bedside constantly until the end came and she passed into the last sweet sleep.

Mrs. Jones’ maiden name was Kate Gibford. She was born in Canton, Ohio, 63 years ago last December. In 1854, when a mere girl, she came to Newton with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Gibford, both of whom have been dead for many years. In 1863 she was united in marriage with Lloyd D. Jones. To them were born two children, Libbie, now the wife of William Lark of Des Moines and Thos. W. Jones, who has remained in the parental home. A niece, Miss Ella Hale, now wife of Gus French, has been in the home from her infancy, and the tenderest ties have existed between her and her foster parents. Mrs. Jones was a splendid wife and mother, and the bereaved husband and children have universal sympathy in their bereavement. Deceased is also survived by five brothers and one sister: Messrs. Dan L., Alex, and Charles Gibford of this city; William Gibford of Denver, Col., John Gibford of Marshalltown; and Mrs. Emma Osborne of Seattle.

Funeral services will be held at 11 o’clock, this Wednesday morning, in the M. E. church at Reasnor, conducted by the pastor, Rev. H. C. Millice, and the interment will be in the Reasnor cemetery. ~ Newspaper unknown.
