George Saum

Funeral services were held on Wednesday at 1:30 o'clock at the Murdoch Funeral Home for George Franklin Saum, 86, retired Kellogg, farmer, who died Monday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. F. Sandusky. He had been ill for the past three months. Interment was in the Saum cemetery at Kellogg.

Mr. Saum was born in Hillsboro, O., on August 2, 1853. His mother died when he was two years old. He moved to Iowa with his father at the age of seven and settled on a farm south of Kellogg.

He was united in marriage in 1877 to Amanda Moore. To this union two children were born. The son, John, died in 1930 and Mrs. Saum died a year later.

In 1910 the family moved to a farm south of Des Moines and Mr. Saum returned to Newton seven years ago.
