PAPILLION, Neb. – John Charles (Chuck) Baker, 78, of Papillion, Neb., passed away on Aug. 10, 2009, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids from complications of a brain injury.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines.
Chuck graduated from Newton Senior High School and Drake University. He was married to Barbara Auten on June 29, 1951.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, a Shriner and a member of the Terra Hills Afternoon Gang. He had retired from Dahl’s and had lived in Papillion, Neb., for the last 26 years.
He is survived by his children, Tim (Linn) Baker of Auguilar, Colo., Jeff (Pam) Baker of Des Moines, Amy (Greg) Seamon of Pleasant Hill, Pat (Erin) Baker of Chandler, Ariz., and Jason Baker of Las Vegas, Nev.; his brother, R. J. Baker; his sisters, Mary Verlyn Davis and Beth Farhney; his grandchildren, Melissa, Mike, John, Luke, Logan, Melinda, Grace, Jay and J.C.; as well as his special friend, Mary Hopewell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Verle Baker and Helen Stockton and his brother, Bill.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital.
