C. E. Reynolds Dies; Rites Here On Tuesday
Charles E. Reynolds, 52 year-old resident of Newton, died at his home Saturday afternoon, April 3, at 2:45 o’clock, following an illness of the past week of pneumonia and complications.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Morgan funeral home Tuesday afternoon, April 6, at 2:00 o’clock, with the Rev. Charles Hollis, pastor of the Four Square church, officiating. Interment will be in Newton Union cemetery.
Born in Jasper County
A native of Jasper County, Mr. Reynolds was born Feb. 27, 1891, and was united in marriage Dec. 5, 1915, in Des Moines, to Emma Henning.
Mr. Reynolds had spent the greater part of his life in and near Newton, having returned here in 1924 from Moline, Ill. He was employed as a molder at the Newton Foundry at the time of his recent illness.
Surviving Relatives
In addition to his widow, he is survived by ten children: Herbert, Charles and Maxine, all of Rock Island, Ill., Burl Reynolds of Camp Chaffee, Ark., Mrs. Herman Sutton of Des Moines, and Mrs. W. H. Williams, and Wilma, Marvin, Rolly and Dean Reynolds, all of Newton.
Other surviving relatives include nine grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Louis Dellwood of California and Mrs. Jay Smith of Larimor, Ia., and six brothers, Ves, William, Joseph and Harry, all of Newton, and Pvt. Pete Reynolds of Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, H. F. and Polly Reynolds.
