Funeral For Mrs. Henning Yesterday
Funeral services for Mrs. August Henning, Sr., were held from the Lutheran church Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Dr. W. H. Blancke, pastor of the church officiating. Mrs. Fred Webb sang, “Nearer, My God to Thee” and “Face to Face.”
The pallbearers were four of the oldest sons, Fred, Ed, August and Theodore Henning, and two sons-in-law, C Saddler and C. Reynolds.
Fredericka Saak was born in Germany on July 7, 1870, and moved with her parents to America in the year 1882.
She was united in marriage to August C. Henning December 9, 1885, at Newton, Iowa, where she has made her home until the time of her death December 24, 1921.
She leaves to mourn her departure a husband and ten children: August F. Henning, Fred Henning, Mrs. Lena Saddler, Mrs. Emma Reynolds, Mrs. Elsie Hasselbring, Edward, Theodore, Albert, Walter and Carl Henning still at home.
She leaves besides that her mother, grandmother Saak, and one sister, Mrs. Carl Lenz of Kellogg.
Mrs. Henning was a member of the Lutheran church of this city. She was a woman who took a great interest in her home and family, in fact there was no task too hard, no undertaking too great for her if it would see in any way to the comfort and happiness of those about her. She gave her very life for her loved ones.
She had been sick for some months and while all was done for her that loving hands could do; all remarked on the spirit of resignation and never failing patience shown by her during her illness; she being ever so grateful for every act of kindness, no matter how small.
In the passing away of Mrs. Henning the community has lost a noble woman and she will be mourned by a large host of loving friends. At the time of her death she was fifty-one years and five months and twenty-four days.
