Watters, Jerome ‘Jerry’ F. – 1920-2009

Jerry passed away Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, in the Monarch Wing of Skiff Medical Center at the age of 89.
Jerome “Jerry” F. Watters was born to Monroe and Laurel Watters on June 30, 1920, in Denton, Mont. He grew up in Judith Basin near Denton. In the 1930s, Jerry’s family moved near Missoula, Mont. He attended and graduated from the University of Montana. Jerry served his country for four years in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Jerry’s family started Watters Brothers Lumber Mills in Thompson Falls, Mont. In 1958, Jerry opened Watters Brothers Lumber Company in Newton. In his later years, Jerry was faithfully associated with the Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
He is survived by five nieces in Washington state, as well as the many friends he made in the Newton area.

Memorial services for Jerry Watters will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, located at 3601 Iowa Speedway Drive in Newton.
Following the service, refreshments will be served at the Wallace Family Funeral Home.
