VERNON RATCLIFF SERVICES TO BE HELD SATURDAY

LYNNVILLE -- Funeral services for John Vernon Ratcliff, 92, of Lynnville, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Lynnville Friends Church.

The Rev. Ernest Thompson, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Lynnville Friends Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe until 10 a.m. Saturday and at the church after 11 a.m. Saturday.

Survivors are three sons, Walter of Monroe and Gene and Roy, both of Newton; two daughters, Eva Rosamond Johnson of Sand Point, Idaho, and Mrs. Ambrose (Betty) Collum of Grinnell; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Mae, a daughter and his parents.

Mr. Ratcliff was a member of the Lynnville Friends Church and had served on the Lynnville school board and the city council.

A mechanic, he had operated a shop in Lynnville and worked for Jasper County.

The son of William and Maranne Cobbs Ratcliff, he was born June 14, 1885 at New Sharon.

He was married to Eva Mae Bowen Feb. 1, 1909 in Des Moines.

He died Wednesday at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton.
