Ruth Henning, 55, of Kellogg died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007, at St. Francis Manor.
A funeral service was held Saturday, Aug. 4, at Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Raymond Lott officiating. Interment was in Our Silent City Cemetery at Kellogg. Memorials may be made to the Ruth E. Henning Memorial Fund in care of Smith Funeral Home website, www.smithfh.com.
She was born, the daughter of Carl and Eva Reynolds Henning, on Jan. 7, 1952, in Newton. She was raised in Kellogg and received her education in the Kellogg schools, then graduated from Newton High School with the class of 1970. She was a bartender and waitress in local establishments in Grinnell and Kellogg. She recently had worked at the Jasper County Sheriff’s office in Newton as a transport officer.
She was a caring person who enjoyed helping residents while she was at St. Francis Manor.
She is survived by her son, Jerry Dale Henning of Madison, Wis.; two grandchildren; two sisters, Judy Norton of Kellogg and Marcia White of Grinnell and one brother Virgil Henning of Madison, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Carl “Sonny” Henning and Jerry Henning, and her sister Edith Luckey.
