Pansy Pearl Brooks Henning, 96, of 920 W. 3rd St. S., died Monday morning at Heritage Manor Care Center in Newton. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday at the Reese Chapel.
Family visitations will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
She is survived by three daughters, Audrey Fullmer of Newton; Maxine Kelly of Des Moines; and Freda Thorlaksson of Chico, Calif. Also, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one brother, Eric Brooks of London, England.
Mrs. Henning was preceded in death by her parents and husband in 1962 and a sister, Ivy.
Mrs. Henning was a member of the First Lutheran Church and was the director of both the senior and junior choirs there, a member of the Sunshine Circle, Knights of Pythias Auxiliary, where she was honored as a life member. She was well known in Newton as a pie, cake and cookie baker and had baked for a number of restaurants in Newton and made special orders for 30 years.
She came to America when she was 18 years old to visit her sister, Ivy Miller, and was born in London Dec. 22, 1891. She was the daughter of Thomas and Emma Brooks.
She was married to August F. Henning on March 6, 1912.
