Fred Henning Dies at 73
Services for Fred S. Henning, 73, who died Sunday morning at his home were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. John United Church of Christ. The Rev. Louis Grossen conducted the services and burial was in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Henning was born June 12, 1892, at Newton, son of August and Fredia Henning, and was married Feb. 11, 1914 to Marie Lenz.
He survives with two daughters, Mrs. John McKibben of Rhodes and Mrs. Homer Streeter of State Center, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are five brothers and two sisters, Edward and Mrs. Emma Reynolds of Rock Island, Ill., Theodore of Colfax, Mrs. Elsie Hasselbrink of Grinnell, Albert of Newton and Walter and Carl of Kellogg.
Mr. Henning was a member of St. Johns Church.
He was reared in Ledyard, Minn., and went to Newton in 1908, later farming near Laurel, Melbourne and Baxter. They retired and moved to town in 1946.
Music was by Mrs. Ray Long accompanied by Mrs. Melvin Riley.
Pallbearers were Raymond Miller, Marvin Sash, Ronald Zeisneiss, Will Gilgen, Harlow Witt and Merle Andrews.
