Donald D. Henning, 60, of 505 E. 13th St. N., a lifelong resident of Jasper County, died Sunday afternoon, Aug. 7, at his home of congestive heart failure.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic church.
The Rev. Ernest Braida, parish priest, will conduct services. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.
Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church and a wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Friends may call at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home from 1 p.m. today until 4 p.m. Tuesday and after 5 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Memorials to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, United Parkinson Foundation or the American Diabetes Association will be accepted.
Survivors are his wife, Esther; three daughters, Rose Ann Henning, Mary Pherigo and Tammy Waldman, all of Newton; three grandchildren; a brother, Roy of Newton; and a sister, Luella Banks of Rock Island, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth.
Mr. Henning, who was an inspector at the Maytag Co., was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Newton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1655.
Mr. Henning, an Army veteran, enjoyed fishing, woodworking and ceramics.
The son of Walter and Mamie Schermerhorn Henning, he was born June 20, 1934 in Newton and attended Newton Community High School.
He was married to Esther Crawford June 6, 1959 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Grinnell.
Mr. Henning also had resided in Kellogg.
