GRINNELL – Funeral services for Mrs. William (Elsie) E. Hasselbrink, 86, of Grinnell, a former longtime resident of Jasper County, were held today, April 22, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.
The Rev. Robert C. Smith, pastor of the Grinnell First Baptist Church, conducted services. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.
Memorials in her name may be sent to or left at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.
Survivors are six children, Virginia Pratt of Clarion, Donald C. Hasselbrink of Newton, Edward A. Hasselbrink of Woodbridge, N.J., Richard W. Hasselbrink of Grinnell, Doris Bryan of Lynnville and Wayne H. Hasselbrink of Grinnell; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ted Henning of Colfax.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, June E. Hasselbrink, six brothers and two sisters.
She died Thursday, April 18, at Friendship Manor in Grinnell.
Mrs. Hasselbrink was a member of the Bethel Grange.
The daughter of August and Fredricka Saak Henning, she was born Feb. 14, 1899 near Newton and was educated in Newton schools.
She was married Oct. 18, 1916. The couple farmed in Jasper County until 1966 when they moved to Grinnell to make their home.
