Kramer, Gay – 1904-2009

Services for Gay Batchelder Kramer, 105, who died Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Park Centre Care Facility, will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Newton. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Faribault, Minn., following a committal service at The Cathedral of Our Merciful Savior.
Gay was born Jan. 25, 1904, in Faribault, Minn. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Hall, class of 1922, attended Bryn Mawr, Carlton College and graduated from Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill. She lived in Evanston until moving to Newton in 1989.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Dr. Paul Kramer, who for many years was the professor of Theology at Seabury Western Seminary in Evanston, Ill.; her parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
Those left to honor her memory are her son, the Rev. Frederick “Fritz” (Carol) Kramer; granddaughters, Anne (Greg) Yakle of Caledonia, Minn., and Kathryn “Katy” (Lars) Lee of Cedar Rapids; three great-grandchildren, Anna Mae Yakle, Lori Caroline Yakle and Lars Frederick Kramer Lee.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the caring staff of Park Centre where Gay has lived for the past 18 years.
Visitation with the family will be after the service at St. Stephen’s. Brooks Funeral Care is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are designated to the Episcopal Relief and Development Fund.
