Funeral services for Mamie L. Henning, 81, of 505 E. 13th St. N., a lifelong resident of Newton, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.
The Rev. Jerome Egel, pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Jasper County will be accepted.
She died Thursday morning at her home of heart failure.
Survivors are two sons, Roy J. and Donald D., both of Newton; a daughter, Luella (Mrs. Steve) Bylo of Franklin, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Walter, Feb. 12, 1985, a brother, Roy Schermerhorn, Jan. 31, 1992, a son, Kenneth, Aug. 22, 1987 and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Henning, a homemaker, was a member of the Pocahontas Lodge, Navy Mothers and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
The daughter of Roy E. and Minnie Jacobs Schermerhorn, she was born Oct. 10, 1910 in Newton.
She was married to Walter A. Henning Dec. 21, 1929 in Toledo.
