Anna White, 95, of Newton died on Sunday, June 14, 2009, at Nelson Manor Nursing Home in Newton.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 19, at the Newton Baptist Temple in Newton with the Rev. A.B. Sudbrock officiating. The family will greet friends from 12 to 1:30 p.m. Friday, at the church. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.
Memorials to Iowa Hospice may be left at the church.
Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton is in charge of arrangements.
Born on Jan. 22, 1914, in Bath, Ill., she was the daughter of Pastor Plennie P. and Mabel Lee (Megginson) Blunt. She grew up in Illinois and Iowa, moving to several different towns with her family. She had lived in Newton sine 1947.
Anna was a homemaker and later was a cook at the Shaw and Heritage Manor Nursing Homes for 15 years. She was a member of the Newton Baptist Temple. Anna loved to collect and save stamps from all over the world.
Survivors include her two sons, Les (Linda) De Geus of Santa Maria, Calif., and Bruce White of Monroe; two daughters, Louise Janes and Barb White, both of Newton; nine grandchildren, Darlene Tunney, Guy De Geus, D.J. De Geus, Debra Flores, DeWayne Thomas, Robin Thomas, Cody Thomas, Jennifer White and Shana White; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mildred Lipp of Monmouth, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents; son, Barry White; son-in-law, Charles Janes; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five brothers; and one sister.
