Richard B. “Dick” Henning, 53, of 403 E. 7th St. Pl. S., died of cancer, Sunday, July 25, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Newton with the Rev. Bill Calhoun, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.
Friends may call after 1 p.m. Sunday at the Wallace Family Funeral Home, 1115 E. 19th St. N., where family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Family visitation will also be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Monday at First Presbyterian Church. Memorials to Hospice of Jasper County or the Jasper County Loan Closet of the American Cancer Society will be accepted.
The son of Albert C. and Minnie V. Redding Henning, he was born March 10, 1946, in Newton.
He was a 1965 graduate of Newton High School. He married Diane M. Bradley Aug. 19, 1989, in Marshalltown.
A lifelong resident of Newton, Mr. Henning retired from the Maytag Company inn 1998 where he worked in automatic assembly. He was a member of the UAW Local 997 and served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967.
Survivors include his wife; six brothers and four sisters-in-law, Bill and Glenda of Texas, Bob and Helen of Cascade; Harold and Albert “Skip” and Ona, all of Newton, James and Mary of Kellogg and Tommy of Vermont; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Bill Stafford and Crystal and Rodney Walker, all of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Peggy Still; three brothers and four sisters.
