BAXTER, Iowa – Wesley Saak, 88, of Baxter, died Saturday, Nov. 14, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at the Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jay Robinson officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery in Baxter.
Visitation will be held today from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Boyd-Davis Funeral Home in Baxter where family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorials to the Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ will be accepted.
The son of Louie and Anna Exter Saak, he was born Feb. 15, 1910, in Jasper County. He graduated from Baxter High School in 1928.
He married Wanda Klopping March 8, 1941, in rural Baxter.
A lifelong resident of Baxter, he worked as a farmer, raising cattle and sheep. Mr. Saak was a member of the Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ for 74 years, a member of the Mariposa Grange for 57 years and a longtime member of the National Farmers Organization and a 4-H leader.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Louis W. Saak of Baxter and Gerald Robinson of Melbourne; a daughter, Sharon Patterson-Lynch of Trout Lake, Mich.; two sisters, Elsie Munger of Niagara Falls, N.Y. and Dehlia Kruse of Baxter; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a nephew; and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson.
