Death Claimed William Wagner June 14
William Anthony Wagner, 89, a resident of Valeria, Iowa, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Molly Atkinson at 103 Kelly Street in Colfax Sunday, June 14th at 12:30 p.m.
Mr. Wagner was born March 4, 1870 in Jasper County and attended schools in this section, later going into farm work which he carried on through life as his vocation. He retired in recent years from the very day duties of farming. Mr. Wagner was married to Mary Brooks Reynolds March 13, 1900 at Vandalia, Iowa, his wife preceding him in death in December 1952. Mr. Wagner moved to Valeria, Iowa, in 1931.
(The marriage information is in error. He married Mary Elizabeth Brooks on June 13, 1894 and she died March 14, 1898. He married Mary Lucretia Reynolds March 13, 1901 and she died December 1, 1952)
Left to mourn his passing are his children, Raymond and Clell of Craig, Colo.; Mrs. W. H. Bowers, Altoona, Ia., Teddy of Valeria, Mrs. Carl Miller, Des Moines; Mrs. Earl Simbro, Monroe, Mrs. Harold Poulson, Cedar Falls and Wilder Wagner and Molly Atkinson of Colfax. Nineteen grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, June 16th at 2:00 p.m. from the Four Square Church in Vandalia, Iowa, with Rev. Bob Anderson and Rev. Henry Castings officiating.
Music was furnished by Paul Brown, Mrs. Hubert Elrod, Elmo Blackledge and Mrs. Kermit DeHaai, with Mrs. Everett Kennedy, accompanist.
Flowers – Mrs. Clifford Gearhart, Mrs. Doloris Fields
Bearers were Clifford Simbro, Bernard Simbro, Wayne Wagner, Norman Bowers, Gary Poulson and Dale Miller.
Burial was in the Vandalia cemetery at Vandalia, Iowa.
