Services Held for Wilder A. Wagner
Wilder A. Wagner, 65, of Colfax, a lifelong resident of the Valeria-Colfax communities, died Monday, Nov. 25, at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, at the Walters Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. Burial was in the Colfax Cemetery.
The Rev. Eldon Nolte, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Colfax, conducted services.
Pat Evans was the organist, and Kathy Lender, the soloist.
Casket bearers were Clifford Simbro, Gary Poulson, Lee Atkinson, Larry Fields, David Mitchell, and Randy Wagner.
Honorary casket bearers were Norman Bowers, Mike Wagner, Wayne Wagner, Ray “Bud” Wagner, Bernard Simbro, Leo Miller, Johnny Wagner, and Dale Miller.
In charge of flowers were Gieula Morgan and Norma Rawlins.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society may be left at the funeral home.
Survivors are his wife, Dorothy; a son and daughter in-law, Ron and Cindy Wagner of Battle Creek, Mich.; and two grandchildren, Scott and Jessica.
Also surviving are a brother, Raymond of Grand Junction, Colo.; and four sisters, Bessie Simbro of Monroe, Mae Bowers of Runnells, Mary Miller of Des Moines, and Mrs. Mack (Stella) Wade of Colfax.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.
Mr. Wagner was a life member of the Newton Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the Colfax American Legion.
An Army veteran of World War II, he had been employed in the dryer assembly department at the Maytag Co. until retiring in 1978.
The son of William and Lucretia Reynolds Wagner, he was born Feb. 20, 1920 in Vandalia.
He was married to Dorothy Clark Oct. 31, 1945 in Altoona.
