Obituary of Mrs. Friedrika Saak
Mrs. Friedrika Saak was born in Hohenhausen Lippe-Detmold, Germany, August 12th, 1844. In her youth she was confirmed in the Reformed church. She came to this country with her sister and family to Baxter, Iowa, and a few years later she moved to Newton where she resided a good many years. She was converted and joined the German Methodist church in Newt6on about 27 years ago in which she was an active member until the congregation disbanded a number of years ago. She has made her home with her only living daughter, Mrs. Carl Lenz, of near Kellogg for about 10 years. She had been in her usual health until about two months ago when she began to fail and loving hands did all that could be done to minister to her comfort. She passed away last Sunday noon, attaining the age of 74 years, 11 months and 11 days.
One daughter, Mrs. Friedrika Henning, preceded her in death about a year and a half ago. Besides her daughter, Mrs. Carl Lenz, she leaves to mourn their loss 15 grand children and 11 great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Exter of Baxter and Mrs. Minnie Schaumberg of Elmore, Minn.
After a short service at the house on Tuesday the funeral services were continued at the First Methodist church in Newton at 3:30 p.m. In charge of Rev. E. M. Hebner of the Kellogg Methodist church.
A quartette consisting of Mrs. R. G. Morris and Miss Rebecca Watts and the Messrs. R. C. and T. Birchard sang some appropriate selections. Six of her grandsons Adolph, Ernest and Louis, Lena and Fred, August and Edward Henning were the pallbearers. Interment was made in the Newton cemetery.

Pioneer of Newton Dead
Mrs. Fredreake Saak Dies Yesterday at Home of Daughter in Kellogg - Funeral Tuesday
Mrs. Fredreake Saak, a former resident of this city, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Carl Lenz near Kellogg, yesterday at 12 o’clock. She has made her home with Mrs. Lenz for the last 20 years.
Mrs. Saak came to this county in 1882 from Germany and lived in and around Newton 41 years. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and a devoted believer in the teaching of the church.
Mrs. Saak is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lena Lenz, of near Kellogg, and two sisters, Mrs. Fred Exter, of Baxter, and Mrs. Minnie Schaumberg of Elnore, Minnesota. Mrs. August Henning, Sr. another daughter, preceded her in death, dying December 24, 1931. Her only brother, Herman Saak of Baxter, was killed by a train a number of years ago.
She also leaves 17 grandchildren and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the First Methodist Episcopal church in Newton. Rev. Mr. Hebner, of Kellogg, will have charge of the services. Burial will be made in the Newton cemetery.
