MONROE — Lyle E. Wyatt, 89, of Monroe, formerly of Newton, died on Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at the Hospice of Jasper County’s Monarch Wing in Newton.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, June 15, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 2-4 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.
Memorials to Hospice of Jasper County may be left at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Naomi of Monroe; son, Wenton (Barbara) Wyatt of Grinnell; one daughter, N. Jean Tennyson of Des Moines; his two grandchildren, Robert Wyatt of Grinnell and Leann (Johnathan) Castle of Council Bluffs; four great-grandchildren: Joseph, Shaden, and Jevin Wyatt and Merlin Castle; and his sister, Arlene Seeley of Holly Pond, Ala.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Welcome and Minnie (Alfree) Wyatt; daughter, Kay Wyatt; two brothers, Jerry and Bob Wyatt; and a sister, Charity John.

Lyle was born January 8, 1920.
Lyle worked 19 years as a custodian for the Newton Community Schools, retiring in 1982. He also delivered Congregate Meals in Monroe for many years.
Lyle was a member of the First Baptist Church in Monroe. Lyle served his country in the U. S. Army during WW II. He also enjoyed working at the Red Rock Campgrounds. Lyle loved to work on Model A cars. He also enjoyed model trains.
