Helen Louise (Jackson) Davidson, 79, of Newton passed away June 6, 2009, at Hospice of Jasper County Monarch Wing in Newton.

She graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1948 and attended Pella Central College in Pella. Upon obtaining a teaching certificate in 1948, Helen taught country school in the Jasper County School Districts from September 1948 to June 1951.

She married Charles Leslie Davidson on Sept. 3, 1948, in Newton.

Helen’s working career spanned many years within the retail business in Newton and Des Moines: Niesners, Jupiters, Woolworths, K-Mart (retiring after 19 years) and Walmart. She was an avid reader, who had a green thumb with indoor plants and loved her garden. She was a giving person with a heart of gold. No one was a stranger and she welcomed all with a smile.

A memorial service will be on Tuesday, June 9, at 11 a.m, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be held at Newton Union Cemetery.
