Gladyce I. Anderson, 84, of Newton died Sunday, May 24, 2009, at her home in Newton.
A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 13, at Newton Union Cemetery in Newton. Following the graveside service, a memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Assembly of God Church, 1029 E. 19th St. N. in Newton.

Those left to honor Gladyce's memory include her daughter, Beverlee J. Williams of Riverside, California; two sons: Tedd M. (Lisa) See of Baxter and Terry G. (Candy) See of Newton; 3 grandchildren: Beverlee's son, Greg Williams of Lake Havasu, Arizona; and Tedd's daughters, Amber Murphy of Monterey, California and Amanda See of Cedar Rapids; her granddog, Molly, who belongs to Terry; her great-grandson--Amber's son--Joseph Murphy of Monterey, California; and her brother, Allen R. (Louise) Anderson of Tucson, Arizona.
Gladyce was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford Raymond and Mayme Gladys (Dunn) Anderson; and three brothers: Roy L. Anderson, Lee Anderson, and Robert E. Anderson.
Gladys attended Lincoln School in Newton and was a graduate of Newton High School in 1942. She worked as a transcriber, phototypesetter, art supervisor, and secretary at Newton Manufacturing for 25 years, retiring in 1988.
She was a Sunday School teacher and bookkeeper at Foursquare Church for 30 years. She was a Skiff Auxiliary volunteer and was in the WIBC bowling league for several years. She was also a member of the First Assembly of God Church. Gladyce was well known for her sewing, needlework, and crafts. She had won several ribbons at the Jasper County and Iowa State Fairs for these and her photos.
Memorials to Hospice of Jasper County may be left at the church on the day of the service.
