Silas McQuiston Died Monday Morning
Had Been Residing At Home Of Mr. and Mrs. George Bowie For The Past Month
Silas McQuiston, 96, slept away in death Monday morning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Bowie, where he had been residing the past month. He had been staying at the Don Clark home in Mingo prior to that time. While he was failing in strength he had managed to be up some each day and death came suddenly and unexpectedly Monday morning.
He was born in Indiana April 10th, 1853 and came to Colfax with his parents at the age of five years. He spent his early life working as a coal miner and at various odd jobs after giving up this line of work. He had resided in Colfax the past fifteen years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, three sisters and two brothers. He is survived by a son John McQuiston of Sioux City, Iowa, a daughter, Rose Morgan of Spokane, Washington, a stepson, Dave Wright of Oklahoma, a stepdaughter, Mrs. George Pollard of Council Bluffs and several grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. at the Bumgardner Funeral Chapel with Rev. W. E. Goughnour, pastor of the Christian Church officiating.
Pallbearers were cousins, and interment was in the McKeever cemetery.
