Dick and Doris farmed in the Killduff area until 2002. They enjoyed raising Angus cattle. Doris was very active in helping Dick with the cattle and corn and bean seed sales. She especially enjoyed handling the family and business bookkeeping. Doris loved to fish at their farm ponds and she looked forward to hunting mushrooms in the fall. One of her favorite activities was mowing the yard and singing as she mowed.
She enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren’s activities, such as showing cattle and various sports activities in which their grandchildren participated. They also enjoyed going for drives and visiting with friends, neighbors and relatives in the area, and made it a point to visit these people if they were in the hospital. In 2002, they moved to Waukee and later to Adel.
