FORT SMITH, Ark. — Corporal W. Craig Comstock, 21, of Fort Smith, Ark., died April 21, 2009, in Germany. Services will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2009, at Fort Smith.
Craig was born Oct. 27, 1987, in Van Buren, Ark., the son of Steve E. Comstock, formerly of Newton. Craig had been in the U.S. Marine Corps since November 2006. He had served two tours in Iraq. He was a graduate of Van Buren High School in Van Buren, Ark., in 2005. He was honored for three years in track. He loved sports and going fishing in Canada.
Survivors include his father, Steve of Van Buren of Van Buren, Ark.; paternal grandparents, William and Juanita Comstock of Gallatin, Mo.; a sister, Captain Carrie Pendroy of Colfax, stationed in Michigan; a brother, Camron Pendroy of West Des Moines; his aunts and uncles, Mike and Dena Comstock of Gallatin, Mo., Sherrill (Comstock) and Larry Braaksma of Newton and Randy Comstock of Gallatin, Mo.; his cousins, Marty and Franchette Braaksma, Jon and Tracy Rivers, Travis and Jenny Herduin and Randy and Jackie Comstock Jr. of Williamsburg; and many great-aunts, uncles and cousins in the Newton area.
Craig was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, William Morris; great-grandparents, Bernie and Dorthea Oliver and Clifford and Ruby Brue; and his cousin, Cory Comstock, in 1980.
