Penny Drew, 65, of Newton died Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at Hospice of Jasper County’s Monarch Wing in Newton.
Funeral services wee held Friday at the First Christian Church, 314 E. Second St. N. in Newton, with the pastors Mark Young and EvaLyn Carlson officiating. Burial was at Wittemberg Cemetery in Newton.
Memorials to First Christian Church or Hospice of Jasper County may be left at the Wallace Funeral Home in Newton or at the church.
The daughter of Charles Edward and Billie Maxine (Townsend) Rosenberger, Penny was born Nov. 11, 1943, in Newton. On July 22, 1962, she married Mick Drew in Newton.
She graduated from Newton High School in 1962, and started working at Maytag Company right after graduation. She then worked at The Vernon Company and Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance and then returned to the Maytag Company.
Penny was a member of the First Christian Church and the UAW Local 997. She also was a lifelong resident of the Newton area. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and especially loved having her grandsons over every Friday night.
Survivors include her husband, Mick Drew of Newton; one son, Mike Drew (Deb Wallace) of Tipton; two grandchildren, Jacob and Joshua Drew of Reasnor; one brother, Mark (Leslie) Rosenberger of Newton; one sister, Tina (Vince) Kono of Reasnor; special friends Ray (Pat) Alston and Linda Breckenridge; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter in infancy, Crystal Lynn Drew.
