Mrs. Emil Lenz Dies Thursday

Had Been in Poor Health For The Past Three Months —
Funeral Sunday at U. P. Church

After an illness of three months, Mrs. Emil Lenz died last evening at her home from a complication of ailments which two operations to which she submitted failed to cure.

Mrs. Lenz was born in Germany, April 11, 1883 and came to America when but a child two years old, with her parents, who settled in Illinois where they lived but a short time and then came to Jasper county near Newton. Mrs. Lenz, who was the former Frida Cappin (s/b Freda Koppin), was married to Emil Lenz October 25, 1901. From this union nine children were born.

Early in life she united with the United Presbyterian church and to this faith she has been a devoted follower. Mrs. Lenz was a kind and thoughtful mother, a sincere friend and her presence in the home will be greatly missed.

Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Mrs. Matilda Schnathorst, of near Baxter, Mrs. Hulda Van Vark, of Pella, and her sons Roy, Cleo, Rolland, Max, Robert, Junior and Leonard. The latter is 15 weeks old.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lenz will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the United Presbyterian church with Rev. W. O. Chisholm in charge of the services. Burial will be made in the Newton cemetery.

Note: There are other records that list her birthdate as April 10, 1883. She was born in Pommern, Prussia (Germany)
